This painting with tandem bikers has references to women winning the vote. Piet Mondrian’s geometric abstracts are an inspiration and by using yellow, red and blue, the colors fell into place with the image (and title). it is called Bauhaus Bikers as an acknowledgment of the modernist influence of Mondrian and the Bauhaus movement - and also because of the date women won the vote in New Zealand - 1893!
