Sally Colahan Griffin has a career in the visual arts, primarily painting and murals, sometimes photography.

With Piedog Press, she is making her painted images accessible at a cost which is affordable, adapting her paintings to the printing press.

Griffin’s paintings have a language of storytelling spanning subject matter from domestic interiors to historical public statements. Whether evoking the campaigns for women’s votes and the eight hour day or a sunlight open plan living room reminiscent of her childhood home, her compositions are both real and fragmentary. The paintings pulse with intensity and significance, both familiar, intimate, yet mysteriously expansive.

The balance of line and color in Griffin’s work strikes an arresting note. Clear-edged forms—geometric yet organic merge with a rich but pared-down color sensibility. The effect is both controlled and contemplative, a dialogue between restraint and emotional resonance.
